A WhatsApp link, with the message already written

Paste your number, type the message the person will find waiting when the chat opens, copy the link. It is all worked out in your browser — the number goes nowhere.

Enter a number, or just a message: both forms exist.

WhatsApp’s rules, as WhatsApp writes them

Four rules, and that is all

A WhatsApp link that does not work is almost always one of these four rules being broken. The tool applies them for you; here they are anyway, because one day you will write the link by hand.

1

The form is wa.me

The address is https://wa.me/<number>. That is the form WhatsApp documents; others circulate, but this one is theirs.

2

The number is international

Country code included. A UK 07123 456789 becomes 447123456789 — the leading zero is not dialled internationally, so it goes.

3

Digits, and nothing else

No “+”, no dashes, no brackets, no spaces. WhatsApp gives the counter-example itself: https://wa.me/+001-(XXX)XXXXXXX is the one to avoid.

4

The message goes in ?text=

URL-encoded. A message with accents, an “&” or a line break breaks a hand-written link — the tool encodes it for you.

With no number, https://wa.me/?text=… produces a link that asks the person who to send the message to. That is the form meant for a message you want passed around.

What WhatsApp actually earns you, and how to know

What this tool cannot do

A wa.me link counts nothing

It is an address at WhatsApp, not at your end: it opens a conversation and leaves no trace on your side. No statistics are documented for these links.

To know what WhatsApp earns you, the click has to go through a link of your own that redirects to the wa.me address. One link per place you share it, and every conversation opened has a row.

How to track what WhatsApp brings you

What you will know

With wa.me alone

How many people clicked: unknown. From which post: unknown. How many bought afterwards: unknown. The chat opens, and that is the end of it.

Frequently asked questions

Does my number go anywhere?

No. The link is built in your browser, in JavaScript: nothing is sent to a server, ours or anyone’s. You can check — cut your connection and the tool keeps working.

Do I need a WhatsApp Business account?

No. A wa.me link works with an ordinary WhatsApp account. Business adds other things — a catalogue, quick replies — but not the link itself.

Why does my link open an empty chat?

The message is lost when it is not encoded: one space or one accent typed straight into the address is enough. That is exactly what the tool handles for you.

Does the link work on a computer?

Yes. WhatsApp opens the installed app when there is one, and its web interface otherwise. WhatsApp decides that, not the link.

Can I know how many people clicked?

Not with the wa.me link alone: no statistics are documented for these links. Put it behind a link of your own and every click is counted, and every sale that follows finds the place it came from.

Count what WhatsApp earns you

A link on your own domain in front of your wa.me address: clicks get counted, and sales find the post that brought them. The free plan is enough to start, with no credit card.
