Track an Elementor form on WordPress

A WordPress contact form sends you an email. That email doesn't say whether the person came from Google, a post, a business card, or the ad you're paying for — and yet that's the only thing that changes your decisions.

Three steps in the Elementor editor

Everything happens in the Form widget settings, under 'Content'. You add an action to the ones that already exist — you don't replace anything.

To prepare: a Subtraq link tagged “prospect”, and the full URL of your thank-you page.

1

In the left panel, under “Content”, expand the “Action After Submit” section.

2

In the “Add Actions” field, add “Redirect” to the actions already there, then expand the “Redirect” section.

3

Paste the Subtraq link into “Redirect To” — the address must be complete, with its https://.

Path checked in Elementor's documentation on September 5, 2026 — the original page. Interfaces change: if what you see no longer matches, the source wins.

What your form doesn't say

Two things to check before you start

The URL must be complete with its https:// — a relative path breaks the redirect, and that's the most common reason a setup doesn't work. And depending on your Elementor plan, the Form widget may not be available: its help page is the authority.

What changes day to day

Where each submission came from

Twelve submissions this month — that's a total. Broken down by source, it's two channels working and three costing money — and there's something to do with that sentence by Monday.

If your submissions have a known average value, put it on the link: the report then moves from contact count to expected revenue.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to install a WordPress plugin?

No. No plugin, no script to paste in the header: the setup is one 'Redirect' action in the form settings, and a link pasted in.

Why isn't my redirect working?

The most common cause is an incomplete URL. Elementor's help is clear: you need the full address with its https://, not a relative path.

Will I lose my site's thank-you page?

No — it becomes the destination of the Subtraq link. The visitor arrives there as before; the measurement happens on the way through.

What about other form plugins (Contact Form 7, WPForms, Gravity Forms)?

The move is the same wherever a post-submit redirect exists; only the path through the settings changes. This guide covers Elementor only, because that's the one that was recorded.

One link for the whole site, or one per page?

One for each place whose return you want to measure. The same form can carry ten different links: the link is what distinguishes them, not the form.
