TikTok bio link: track what it brings in

Everywhere else, each post carries its own link. Here, the platform’s help center documents only one place for a URL — your profile — and it doesn’t give everyone access. Let’s start with what TikTok allows, then with what that single link can tell you.

What TikTok’s help says

What TikTok allows on your profile

Four points, as they read in the official help center. What it doesn’t say is noted below.

The questionWhat the help says
Who can add a link to their profileAccounts “with at least 1,000 followers” or with “a verified Business account”
Where to add itProfile at the bottom → Edit profile → next to “Links,” tap “Add”
A link opening another social media appNo longer supported. A link to that platform’s website is still possible
External link chainsRestricted by security measures on all accounts: a message may prompt users to open the page in the device browser

What the help doesn’t say, and what we won’t make up: how many links a profile accepts — it says “Links” in the plural with no number — or what happens to a URL written in a caption or comment. We found no link placement other than the profile.

Checked on September 11, 2026 in TikTok help, « Ajouter un lien de site Web à ton profil » — the original page. Platforms change their rules: if what you see no longer matches, the source wins.

The link you can read on screen when nothing is clickable

What the bio link brought in — example

41%

of what you sold this month came through TikTok — through the bio link, the only place the platform accepts an address. The view count doesn’t tell you that.

How a sale traces back to the link

The constraint, turned around

A link you can read on screen

One clickable spot doesn’t mean only one measurement. The bio link tells you what your account brings in; the one you show on screen or say in a video tells you what that video brings in — and it doesn’t need anyone’s permission.

The catch is that it needs to stick. That’s where your domain makes all the difference: link.yourbrand.com/workshop reads in a second and gets retyped without a mistake. Seven random characters, nobody retypes. The same link works as a QR code the day you take it off screen.

The same logic applies on YouTube, Instagram and LinkedIn — each with its own constraints.

The same problem, from a content creator’s perspective

In Subtraq

Channel: TikTok

When you create the link, you choose its channel — where you are going to share it. TikTok becomes a row on the dashboard, with its clicks, leads, and sales. The bio link and the one you say aloud in a video land separately, if you created two.

The three objections

“I don’t have 1,000 followers — this isn’t for me.”

TikTok’s help offers two ways in — 1,000 followers, or a verified Business account — and we won’t pick one for you: switching account types involves a lot more than just the Links field. In the meantime, a link said aloud in a video needs nobody’s permission, and it counts exactly the same.

“TikTok recommends direct links. Isn’t a short link the opposite?”

The line is there, and we quote it as written: the help recommends “adding direct links so users can reach the intended site in as few steps as possible.” It sets no step count and names no tool — we won’t decide for it. For our part: a Subtraq link redirects once, to the address you chose, with no intermediate page. If that bothers you, use your full address — you lose the tracking, and that is a defensible choice.

“My bio link changes every week.”

That is exactly where a fixed link earns its keep: you keep the same address in your profile and change its destination in Subtraq. The click history keeps running on the same link instead of starting from zero with every trend.

Frequently asked questions

Who can add a bio link on TikTok?

According to TikTok’s help recorded September 11, 2026: accounts with at least 1,000 followers, and those with a verified Business account. The help page mentions no other way in.

How do you add the link, concretely?

In the app: Profile at the bottom, then Edit profile, then tap Add next to Links. That is the path given in the help; we are not describing the screens that follow, as we have not recorded them.

Can a link be clicked in a video caption or comment?

We found no link placement other than the profile in TikTok’s help center — we will not state it either way. What works regardless: a short address, shown on screen or said aloud, that someone can retype.

How many links does a TikTok profile accept?

The help says “Links” in the plural and describes an Add button, without ever giving a number. We will not make one up — unlike Instagram, whose help states five websites, or YouTube, which mentions fourteen links on the channel page.

What is the character limit for a TikTok bio?

We found no TikTok help article publishing that figure, and we will not copy one circulating on blogs. Whatever the limit: a short link fits better than a long URL with tracking parameters.

Does a Subtraq link work inside TikTok’s built-in browser?

It is an address like any other. The help warns that a message may prompt users to open the page in the device browser, on all accounts: that behavior comes from TikTok, and no link tool can disable it.

Create your TikTok bio link

Create the link, add it to your bio if TikTok lets you, say it in your video if not. Tracking starts at the first click — it doesn’t reach back to yesterday’s videos.
