Tracking pixel
A tracking pixel is a tiny, often invisible image whose only job is to report a visit to the service hosting it. It is the historic mechanism of ad retargeting: the image loads, the ad network knows someone came through.
Cookies, consentement, serveur : mesurer la campagne sans pister la personne. The forty terms of the trade
What it is for
It builds an advertising audience out of people who showed interest. For an agency, it is what allows you to re-reach visitors who did not buy — without installing anything on the client's site, if the pixel fires at the moment of the redirect.
How to place it safely
By storing an identifier, and building the image address from a template verified with the ad network. Accepting a code snippet pasted by a user would mean letting a third party run code on your domain — a pixel is an image, never a script.
The classic mistake
Letting it fire for automated visits. A bot that loads the pixel enters the client's advertising audience, and the client then pays to retarget software.
What a pixel must stay
An image
An identifier
A verified template
Never a script
A pasted code snippet is a third party allowed to run on your ground. The hole was reachable.
What Subtraq does with it
Subtraq stores a pixel identifier, checked character by character, and builds the address from a verified template. Ad networks with no image pixel are absent, and the screen says so. The waiting page redirects two independent ways, one of them without JavaScript, and a bot never gets there.

Measuring a campaign does not require tracking a person. What the tool collects, what it refuses to collect, and who is responsible for what: the security page says it plainly.
