Campaign

A campaign is the dated marketing push whose result you want to measure, whatever platforms were used to carry it. It is the unit of judgement: a launch, a promotion, a webinar, a season.

Dire d’où vient un clic avant qu’il ne soit trop tard pour le savoir. The forty terms of the trade

What it is for

It groups scattered links under a single result. A launch carried by a newsletter, three stories and an ad produces five report rows without a campaign, and one with. It is also the only level at which ROAS makes sense, since it is the level at which you spent.

How it is named

A short name, a date, and a convention you never change again: *launch-2026-03*, *summer-sale-2026*. The date in the name is what lets you find the push six months later, when the word *launch* already refers to three different things.

The classic mistake

A name without a date, reused every season. Two pushes merge into the same total and year-on-year comparison becomes impossible — without any tool flagging a thing.

UTM parameters

The name you can still find in six months

launch

launch-2026-03

The same word, plus seven characters. That is the difference between a possible comparison and a muddled total.

What Subtraq does with it

The report breaks down by campaign, read from the link's parameter. Links are also filed by label and by folder, which keeps what belongs to the same push together without depending on naming alone.

A badly placed label cannot be fixed afterwards: the link is already published. The builder writes the address without a syntax error, and the preview shows what the report will make of it.
